Varlon is a surviving mining moon. Its Varkon population maintains operations after the mother world, Varikon Prime, is stripped to bedrock. Halted ore convoys and refusal of tithe place the community in conflict with external power. Allegations of outside support remain rumours.

In the novel

Selected passages from P.X: No Man’s Space.

The Qorvax was deep in operation above Varlon, the surviving moon of Varikon Prime. The mother world had long since withered into a husk, stripped to bedrock and left lifeless, while the Varkon population retreated to their primary moon to sustain what remained of their mining operations. Once a loyal Dominion colony, Varlon had turned rogue. Its ore convoys had halted three rotations earlier, and its authorities refused to pay the imperial tithe. Whispers had reached even Theron command that the Lur’ash were feeding the insurgencies multiplying along the Empire’s borders.
