The Quarterdeck stands behind a faded sign at 2130 South St. A neglected lobby and a reluctant manual lift lead to a basement arcade. Broken neon and idle cabinets define the room; one active blue cabinet is the exception. Kai’s Codex account gives the visit a livelier retro-arcade impression than the dark, decaying surroundings described in the narrative.

Across the street, under the jaundiced haze of a tired streetlamp, a faded sign hung crooked over a squat brick building.
THE QUARTERDECK
2130 South St
The lobby barely earned the word, more a holding pen for time than a room. The fluorescent ceiling panels had given up long ago. One bulb hung from exposed wiring, throwing light into a space that seemed to want none.
The lift started down, and raw concrete slid past the gap in the frame, unfinished, exposed, the inside of something never meant to be looked at directly.
Cracked linoleum ran out across the floor in uneven squares, marked with the pale outlines of cabinets long since hauled away and shoes that hadn’t crossed it in decades. Neon signage clung to the walls, half the letters gone, the glass tubes fractured, none of it lit. The machines waited in rows, neither off nor on. Idle. Statues that had forgotten they were ever meant to move.
In the far corner, past a collapsed snack counter and a coin changer with its guts pulled out, one cabinet, impossibly, was alive. A single screen put out a steady, soft blue glow.
