Nexus is an international research network rather than a single campus. The narrative places research in the Aleutian chain, near Teruel in Spain and in Baden-Württemberg, and describes a dozen laboratories across countries. Each division pursues a different frontier.
At a glance
- Multiple laboratories in different countries
- Aleutian research on quantum mesh communications
- Teruel theoretical physics, quantum mapping and particle convergence
- German entanglement programme described through leaked reports
In the novel
Selected passages from P.X: No Man’s Space.
“…still no official statement from Nexus Labs regarding the network breach. The research facility, located in the Aleutian chain, was reportedly running live tests on high-frequency quantum mesh architectures. Industry insiders suggest the project could lead to major breakthroughs in long-range deep-space communications, with some sources claiming the array might be sensitive enough to detect coherent signals from outside our galaxy.”
The piano notes of Debussy’s Clair de lune drifted from the overhead speakers, cool and delicate, the most human sound in a room built to listen for something much farther away. Outside, the arid hills of Teruel, Spain, offered nothing but heat and distance, but within the facility, that delicacy gave way to operational choreography running with the clockwork precision of a Mahler symphony. Nothing inside Nexus was meant to happen by chance. From here, Nexus coordinated the world’s most advanced work in theoretical physics, quantum mapping, and particle-field convergence. Skeletal light rails brightened the white-floored lab from above, while scientists from a dozen nations crowded every station, each team reading the same impossible result from a different corner of the planet.
That was what Kai hadn’t clocked about Nexus until now: it wasn’t one lab. It was a dozen of them, scattered across as many countries, each chasing a different impossibility. He’d seen the engine division. This had been another endeavor entirely.
“—live from Baden-Württemberg, where the Nexus research facility, until today the lead site for the Quantum Nexus Initiative, was struck in what officials are calling a catastrophic, coordinated strike across multiple sites worldwide. Leaked internal documents, circulating within the hour, indicate the German lab ran one of the Initiative’s quantum-entanglement programs. Nexus has not verified the documents, and says it does not know their source.”
