A colossal arc of light, thin, flawless, and distant, stretched diagonally across the sky, running from the southeast horizon to the northwest. Its color drifted between emerald and ice-blue, bending with Earth’s curve. The radiance painted the tops of the corn pale green, lending the fields a color from some other reality.
Two hundred yards out, the corn began to collapse inward. Stalks flattened in a slow spiral. The soil buckled around a verdant ray that speared straight up. Within seconds, solid forms began to coalesce around it: blocks, slabs, dark faceted stones, each one appearing midair before sliding cleanly into place.
The rhythm quickened. Dozens of blocks, then hundreds, assembling like an equation solving itself. The structure grew upward until the light withdrew, leaving a seamless pyramid in the center of the field. The air wavered with residual heat. A single burst of white flare swept over the rows and was gone.
They stood together at the roadside, four figures against the remade horizon, staring at what had risen on their land. Above its peak, the Crown swept through their sky, a halo too strange to trust, yet too beautiful to abandon.
It gleamed so cleanly you half-expected a pharaoh to step from its gate. Edges sharp, tip clad in gold, surface untouched. The ninth wonder, born beneath Earth’s new Crown.
