Selected passages from P.X: No Man’s Space.
Beneath the Gansu mountains, the Empire’s stronghold spread like an alloy spine through ancient rock, human legacy fused with foreign design. Black-metal vaults curved overhead, their surfaces carrying a low structural vibration, Theron glyphs reordering themselves in slow, lucid rhythm through the dim. Crimson banners hung motionless, their shifting script woven from self-repairing fiber that seized stray reflections off the marble floor.
Zhang Wei braced his hands on the table. “We cannot afford to be left behind.” The naked bid for Sarron’s favor was audible beneath the words. “The Empire has delivered on its promises. Weaponry that outclasses NATO, strategic footholds from Gansu, logistics that can bend trade routes. South America is already fracturing. Brazil’s envoys are convening, terrified they’ll lose their place in the new order.”
Wei’s reply came fast. “An Arcanian-origin fighter raided China’s research base in Gansu. There are casualties.”
